Lively, sociable and outgoing

About the Spoodle

Spoodles are a mix between a Cocker Spaniel and a Miniature or Toy Poodle. As a hybrid dog, this pup combines the best traits of both breeds and makes for an excellent dog. Spoodles can be suitable for practically any kind of household. They are intelligent dogs, which makes them easy to train, even for novice dog owners. Although each Spoodle may have a different mix of features from its parent breeds, most Spoodles have a calm and gentle nature.

Adaptability marks this breed. Whether nestled in bustling urban apartments or roaming wide-open country spaces, Spoodles (also known as Cockapoos) adjust to diverse living arrangements, harmonising with their owners’ habits and energy levels. Still, their lively spirit thrives when granted room to romp and explore.

Spoodle Breed History

Included in the much-loved Oodle family are the Spoodles, all of which are Poodle crosses. Aside from the popular Goldendoodle and Labradoodle, the Spoodle has a following all of its own. While Poodle crosses have existed for decades, the rise of the Spoodle has created new excitement in the world of designer dog breeds.

With its hypoallergenic coat and combination of the best features of Spaniels and Poodles, Spoodles continue to be popular. There are even breed standard disputes, but these only add to the interest in this dog rather than detract from its appeal. As more people discover the charm of Spoodles, their popularity continues to swell.

How to Choose a Responsible Spoodle Breeder

When looking for a reputable Spoodle breeder, look for someone who prioritises the well-being, health, and temperament of their dogs. The best breeders are knowledgeable about their breed lines and practice responsible breeding.

When visiting their facilities and eventually the puppy, you will get to experience the environment they come from. You will also get to meet their parents. Ethical Spoodle breeders continue to assist Spoodle owners with advice and support even after the dogs have been adopted. The care they dedicate to their dogs throughout their lifespan shows that they only have genuine interest in producing healthy Spoodles. Hence, when looking for a Spoodle breeder, look for someone who focuses on raising well-balanced dogs.

Spoodle FAQ

No. They need attention from their owner or family members, as they thrive on human company. They’re highly sensitive and can become moody and depressed when left alone.

They tend to be hypoallergenic if their coat ends up being similar to that of the Poodle parent. However, some dogs have an inbetween or wavy coat that does not trap shed hair and dander as well as the curls of the Poodle. It’s best to meet the Spoodle puppy before committing to buying one if you have dog allergies.
