RPBA Veterinary Scholarship

Overview

We are Australia’s largest ethical community for all breeds. We aim to create a safe forum to educate all pet owners and registered breeders — be it dog or cat breeders.

We appreciate that qualified Veterinarians and Veterinary Nurses are the lifeline for the best pet health care, and want to reward those who are as passionate about animal care as we are. As such, we are offering the RPBA Vet Scholarship to those are interested in future roles in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Sciences and Animal Care, to assist them in their studies.

Responsible Pet Breeders Australia is committed to helping you take your Veterinary studies to the next level. To help kick-start your career we are offering scholarships for Veterinary students.

The Scholarship Award

The RPBA Veterinary Scholarship will award the chosen individual with a $1,500 AUD voucher to put towards course-related expenses.

You will also have the chance to be featured on the RPBA website, gain first hand experience in the industry to add to your resume, learn how to become a registered breeder, and there are even opportunities for future employment that we may be able to assist you with.

Availability

This scholarship is offered on an annual basis to one select person. Applications open October 16, 2023, to December 15, 2024.

RPBA Scholarship Eligibility

This scholarship is available to students who are currently enrolled in an accredited University/Australian Tertiary Education Institution, undergraduate and postgraduate studies in one or more of the following areas:

  • Vet Tech
  • Vet Medicine
  • Vet Science
  • Vet Nurse
  • Vet/Life Science
  • Animal Care
  • Animal Science
  • Animal Nutrition
  • Courses leading to a career in Vet care

How to Apply 

Follow the steps below to enter:

1. Send us a short video of you (maximum of 5 minutes): include a quick intro and then explain an animal care topic that you are passionate about (examples include; how to take your dog’s/cat’s temperature, how to care for puppies, why pets need to be microchipped, how many vaccinations does a pet need). We are looking for submissions that reflect a passion for animal welfare and a desire to educate pet owner’s on the highest standards of animal care. Note that we are looking for quality not quantity, so you do not have to use up the full 5 minutes.

2. Email us your video link at [email protected] using email title ‘Vet Scholarship Submission”.

3. Make sure to include your contact details: full name, postal address, and contact number in the body of your email so that we can contact you if you are chosen. Please also include your current education course that you are studying, its location, and how far along you are in it.

Selection Criteria 

The RPBA Scholarship will be awarded to the applicant whose video brings positive energy, proficiency, and creates quality video content. We are looking for someone who demonstrates great knowledge and a passion for the care of animals. Please ensure that all entries are no longer than 5 minutes in length.

Terms Of Scholarship Entry 

RPBA Scholarship is being offered by Responsible Pet Breeders Australia. By entering this competition, you provide your acceptance of these official rules and the decisions of Responsible Pet Breeders Australia, which are final and binding. Winning the prize is contingent on complying with these terms.

WHO MAY ENTER: Entry is only open to Australian Residents, 18 years of age or older. Current undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in a Veterinary/Animal Care related course at a University/Australian Tertiary Education Institution are encouraged to apply, Employees (and their immediate families) of Responsible Pet Breeders Australia are ineligible to enter.

ENTRY PERIOD: The Entry Period begins at 12:01 a.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time on the 16th of October 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time on the 15th of December 2024. The winner will be notified by email or phone.

HOW TO ENTER: To enter the Scholarship Competition, each “Entrant” must: (1) In a short video (5 minutes or less) explain an animal care related topic; (2) include their full name, postal address, email address and best contact number; (3) email the entry to [email protected]. By entering the Scholarship Competition, each Entrant consents to Responsible Pet Breeders Australia use of their names, e-mail addresses, contributed content and photographs for all legitimate business purposes in perpetuity including advertising and promotional activities without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Responsible Pet Breeders Australia is not responsible for any technical failure during the Entry Period including any technical malfunction of any computer, on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or review to be received on account of traffic congestion on the internet, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an Entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from downloading any material related to the Scholarship Competition, all of which may affect a person’s ability to participate in the Scholarship Competition. Students that are faculty members are not eligible. Subject to Responsible Pet Breeders Australia sole discretion, any Entry that incorporates elements that are lewd, offensive, vulgar, sexual in nature, involve nudity, defamatory, infringing, or otherwise considered offensive or illegal shall be disqualified from the Scholarship Competition.

HOW TO WIN: The winner of the Scholarship Competition will be selected on the basis of the best video entry by a panel of judges on 18th of  December 2024. The judging will take place at 1/86-90 Bay Street Broadway, New South Wales 2007 Australia.

SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE: The winner will receive the following prize: $1,500 AUD Westfield Voucher. Only the prize specified above will be awarded. The voucher is valid for 12 months and must be used before this date. Responsible Pet Breeders Australia expressly disclaims any responsibility or liability for injury or loss to any person or property relating to the prize awarded. Responsible Pet Breeders Australia makes no representation or warranties concerning the prizes awarded.

By participating in the Scholarship Competition you hereby agree to Responsible Pet Breeders Australia collection and usage of your personal information as permitted by the RPBA privacy policy and acknowledge that you have read and accepted the RPBA privacy policy.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By participating in the Scholarship Competition, including accepting a prize, Entrants agree to release, hold harmless and agree not to institute any claim against RPBA, and its affiliates, subsidiaries and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from or in connection with, either directly or indirectly, the awarding, acceptance, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of any prize awarded herein. Upon delivery of a prize to a winner, RPBA will be deemed to have awarded the prize to such winner with winner assuming full responsibility for the prize. Released Parties are not responsible for any technical, hardware, software, telephone or other communications malfunctions, errors or failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, website, internet, or ISP availability, unauthorised human intervention, traffic congestion, incomplete or inaccurate capture of entry information (regardless of cause) or failed, incomplete garbled, jumbled or delayed computer transmissions which may limit one’s ability to enter the Scholarship Competition, including any injury or damage to your or any other person’s computer relating or resulting from participating in the Scholarship Competition or downloading any materials in this Scholarship Competition. Under no circumstances will Entrants be permitted to obtain awards for any action or claim related to this Scholarship Competition, and Entrants hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees, in relation thereto and Entrants further waive all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

MISCELLANEOUS CONDITIONS: If the Scholarship Competition cannot be conducted as planned, for any reason, including, without limitation, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Responsible Pet Breeders Australia, Responsible Pet Breeders Australia reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Scholarship Competition and select winners from among the eligible entries prior to the cancellation. Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of this Scholarship Competition, or whom Responsible Pet Breeders Australia believes to be causing malfunction, error, disruption or damage will be disqualified. Responsible Pet Breeders Australia reserves the right to correct any typographical, printing, computer programming or operator errors. Responsible Pet Breeders Australia failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
