Breeding Practices

As an RPBA Full Member, our premises have been audited to check for the following:

• Sheltered Sleep area We provide our animals with sheltered sleep areas to ensure they are free from weather conditions, predators, pets, bugs and any discomfort. There is space for each animal with access to natural lighting and freshwater.

• Exercise We provide an area for our breeding animals to enjoy being able to move about freely and run, play and exercise to their hearts content. The area is regularly cleaned and has shelter from the elements.

• Whelping/Queening Area A safe and secure area is provided for our females in the lead up to, during and after the birthing process. It allows for the litter to be safely born and grow and provides everything they need during their critical first weeks.

• Health + Feeding Our animals are regularly seen by a vet and we have plans in place for anything which may occur at any time. We have records of all vaccinations, flea and worming treatments and any testing which has been undertaken.

• Animal Behaviours Our animals regularly engage in enrichment activities and have daily interactions with us. We love our animals and it is obvious they love us back.

• Breeding Animal Numbers As members of RPBA we are committed to putting the welfare of our animals first, which is why we never have more than 10 breeding females, regardless of species, under our care.
