RPBA Dog & Cat Breeding Handbook

RPBA Cat & Dog Breeders Handbook

RPBA Cat & Responsible Pet Breeders Australia was created so that all dog breeders, cat breeders and pet buyers would be able to give their pets the best life possible. This is regardless of the breed or pedigree of the pets, as all animals deserve to be treated ethically and responsibly – whether you’re raising German Shorthaired Pointers, Alaskan Malamutes, or some other breed.

One of the greatest opportunities afforded to RPBA is the chance to educate breeders and buyers. Doing this allows us to ensure that puppies and kittens have the best chance of success in life, as they depend on the breeders for everything at several crucial stages.

From prebirth and as newborns up to 8 weeks of age, the development of puppies and kittens is mostly up to the skills and knowledge of breeders. To help all RPBA members during this time, we have produced RPBA Dog & Cat Breeding Handbooks that cover many of the topics that are crucial for our breeders.

These handbooks serve as each RPBA member’s welcome to the wonderful, rewarding and time-consuming world that is breeding. Some of the main topics include:

  • Basic dog/cat care
  • Pre-mating genetic tests and vet examinations
  • Mating process and methods
  • Dog/cat pregnancy timelines
  • Whelping/queening area cleaning and disinfection
  • Stages of labour
  • Puppy/kitten development
  • Flea and worming treatment and vaccinations
  • Hand rearing
  • Finding the right home for your puppies and kittens

We want all of our RPBA members to succeed in breeding healthy, happy puppies and kittens, and be able to find them the perfect fur-ever homes and owners. The RPBA Dog & Cat Breeding Handbooks are exclusively available for RPBA members upon approval of their membership application, and can be found in the members only section, along with all the breeder templates and checklists required for a litter of puppies or kittens.

If you are a cat or dog breeder or have puppies or kittens in your care, then apply to join the RPBA to receive the RPBA Dog & Cat Breeding Handbooks as well as all the other great benefits of RPBA membership.
